About Jay

Originally from New York, Jay Dyer began his career as a development executive at Walt Disney Feature Animation. During his tenure he helped shepherd multiple projects to the screen and stage.

He recalls his time at the House of Mouse quite fondly. It’s where he learned how to write. “Nobody cares about the plot; they care about the story.” Dyer has written for numerous television series, including Californication, Half and Half, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, All About the Andersons and Friday: The Animated Series, which he developed, executive produced and served as showrunner. He also served as executive producer and showrunner for Netflix’s Club de Cuervos, and Woke on Hulu. Club de Cuervos was nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series.

Jay agrees that while, yes, it is an honor to be nominated, he wishes they had won. A side note — once the award in your category is presented, you check out. Mentally, spiritually… you wonder where it all went wrong.

Jay has also penned screenplays for Paramount, Sony, New Line, and Universal. None of which got made. Frowny face emoji.

He is currently writing a Broadway musical for Universal Theatrical Group. It’s based on one of their classic properties, and he is quite excited to share the work that he and the late, great Steven Lutvak dreamt up… which will be shortly!!!!
